The lecture gives a detailed account of the debate over the notion of the Anthropocene in the Geosciences, in particular in the so-called "Anthropocene Working Group" (AWG). By making the AWG and its decision processes its object of study, the lecture shows how knowledge is produced in contemporary geology. The case of the AWG illustrates how globalized science, interdisciplinary debates, and public discourses intersect on a topic that carries slightly different meanings for each.
The event is open to students and faculty of the micro-credential learning program, as well as participants of the Cooperatio program Transdisciplinary Research of the Anthropocene (TRAN).
The lecture is a part of the micro-credential learning program Anthropocene: The Contemporary World in a Transdisciplinary Perspective, organized by the Center for Theoretical Study, a joint research institute of Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
